Community rules
Last updated 2026-09-26
These rules apply to everyone, in every mode. They exist so that a conversation with a stranger stays something people are willing to have.
You must be 18 or older
Kismaro is not for children. When you create an account you tell us your date of birth once, and confirm it on a second screen. It cannot be changed afterwards. If we believe an account belongs to someone under 18 we close it permanently.
Show your face in video chat
In video mode your camera must show you, live. Your browser checks for a face every few seconds. If none is found for about twenty seconds the conversation is ended automatically and a strike is recorded. Pointing a camera at a screen, a photograph, a looping recording or anything other than yourself is not allowed.
No nudity or sexual content
No nudity, no sexual acts, no sexual content of any kind. This applies whether or not the other person says they don't mind.
No hate, harassment or threats
Do not attack people for who they are. Do not threaten, intimidate or follow someone who has left a conversation. If you don't want to talk to someone, press Next.
This is not a dating site
Do not ask people for their gender before talking to them. Do not ask for photographs, contact details or money. Kismaro is for conversation.
Don't record people
Do not record, screenshot or stream another person without their clear agreement. Kismaro does not record conversations, and neither should you.
One person, one account
Do not create accounts to get around a ban, and do not share your account.
What happens if you break these rules
Reports are reviewed. Where a rule has been broken, bans escalate:
- First time — 24 hours
- Second time — 7 days
- Third time — permanent
Sexual content involving a minor is never subject to this ladder. It results in an immediate permanent ban and, where the law requires it, a report to the relevant authorities. See our Safety page.
Reporting someone
Every conversation has a Report button. Reports reach a human. If you believe someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first, then write to [email protected].
