Omegle alternative:
talk to strangers anywhere
Kismaro is a free Omegle alternative. Talk with strangers by video, by voice, or by text — pick a country, choose how you want to talk, and press start. No profile to fill in first, and nothing to install.
Optional. Kismaro looks for someone who shares one before falling back to anyone.
How it works
1. Choose a mode
Text, voice or video. Each has its own queue, so you are only matched with people who want the same thing.
2. Pick who you meet
Filter by country if you want to talk to a particular place, or leave it open and meet anyone.
3. Say hello
Press Start. If a conversation isn't working, press Next and you'll be with someone else in a second.
The rules, plainly
- You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth once and it can't be changed.
- Keep your face visible in video chat. Cameras pointed at anything else are disconnected automatically.
- No nudity, hate or harassment. Reports are reviewed and acted on.
- This is not a dating site. Don't ask people for their gender or photos.
- Break these and you're banned — 24 hours, then a week, then permanently.

Three ways to talk on Kismaro, three separate queues
There are three ways to talk to strangers online here, and each has its own queue — so Kismaro only ever matches you with someone who wants the same thing you do. Nobody is waiting on a camera you were never going to turn on.
Video
Random video chat, face to face, the way most people use these sites. Your camera has to show you — the check runs in your browser and a camera pointed at anything else is disconnected.
Voice
Talk out loud with the camera off. Uses a fraction of the data video needs, works on a weak connection, and most people find it easier than being on screen.
Text
No camera, no microphone. Works anywhere, including places and situations where talking out loud is not an option.
What is different about Kismaro
Random chat has been around for fifteen years and most of what goes wrong with it is well understood by now — Omegle learned several of these lessons the hard way before it closed. These are the six things Kismaro decided not to repeat.
The camera has to show you
In video chat your browser checks for a face every few seconds. The check runs on your device and only the result reaches us. A camera aimed at a ceiling, a photo or a looping recording ends the conversation.
Nothing is recorded
Video and voice travel directly between the two people wherever the networks allow it. There is no archive of conversations, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell — anonymous online conversations in the only sense that means anything, which is that nobody kept a copy.
The country filter works both ways
Choose a country and Kismaro matches you only with people connecting from there — and only with people willing to be matched with yours. A filter, not a hint that gets ignored when the queue is short.
An age gate that means something
You confirm a date of birth once, on its own screen, and it can never be edited. Omegle never had this and it is the single reason it is gone. Every report reaches a person.
Interests nudge the match
Add up to five things you want to talk about. Kismaro looks for someone who shares one before falling back to anyone, so a conversation can start with common ground instead of "hi".
Free, with nothing held back
No paid tier that unlocks the country filter or moves you up the queue. Every mode, every filter, no account charge and nothing to install.
Looking for Omegle?
Omegle shut down in November 2023, after fourteen years, following a lawsuit about a child being randomly paired with an adult. The court found its usual legal protection did not apply, because the complaint was about how Omegle paired people rather than about anything a user had posted. The full story is here.
That single detail shaped every one of the Omegle alternatives built since. It is why Kismaro asks for a date of birth once and never lets you edit it, and why your camera has to show your face in video chat. Omegle had neither, and that is what ended it.
What Kismaro keeps from Omegle is the part people actually miss: you press a button and you are talking with a stranger. No profile to build, nobody you already know, and Next is always one click away. If you want the differences laid out properly, there is a page comparing the two and a wider comparison against OmeTV, Emerald Chat, Monkey and Chatroulette.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kismaro a good Omegle alternative?
It does what Omegle did — random strangers by text or video, no profile to build — and adds the two things Omegle never had: a date of birth confirmed once and never editable, and a check that your camera is showing your face.
Is Kismaro free?
Yes. Random video, voice and text chat are free, and the country filter is not held back behind a paid tier.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Kismaro runs in a browser tab on a phone or a computer — there is nothing to download and no app to install.
Do I have to be 18?
Yes. Kismaro is 18+ only, and Kismaro checks it. You confirm a date of birth once when you sign up and it cannot be changed afterwards.
Are conversations recorded?
No. Video, voice and text are never recorded or stored. Media travels directly between the two people wherever the networks allow it.
Can I choose which country I am matched with?
Yes. Pick a country and Kismaro only matches you with people connecting from there, and only with people willing to be matched with your country in turn.
Ready?
Signing in to Kismaro takes a few seconds and keeps your settings. You can use a Google account, your email, or stay anonymous.
