Kismaro compared with the other random chat sites
Every site in this category publishes a comparison table where its own column is green and everyone else's is red, which is why nobody believes any of them. This one includes the rows we lose.

Omegle is in the table because people still ask, not because it is an option — it closed in November 2023 and the domain now shows a holding page under a new owner.

Where we are weaker
Fewer people are online. We are new. OmeTV and Chatroulette have had a decade to build their crowds, and a narrow country filter here at a quiet hour can find nobody at all. This is the real trade-off and no amount of writing changes it.
You cannot start without an account. OmeTV, Emerald and Chatroulette let you press a button and go. We ask you to sign in first, even if anonymously, because that is what makes the age gate something other than a checkbox. It costs us visitors and we know it.
No mobile app. Everything runs in a browser. That is fine on a phone but it is not the same as an icon on a home screen, and Monkey in particular is much better at that.
Where we are stronger
The age gate is real. Every other site in that table asks you to confirm you are 18 with a button and nothing behind it. We ask for a date of birth on its own screen, once, and it can never be edited. This is the exact thing that ended Omegle.
Your camera has to show you. A face check runs in your browser every few seconds. A camera pointed at a ceiling, a photograph or a looping recording ends the conversation. Nobody else in the table does this.
Voice is a full mode. Not a toggle inside video — its own queue, with people who also chose it. On a weak connection or an old laptop it is the only mode that works properly.
The country filter works in both directions. Choosing Japan means you only meet people in Japan, and only people willing to meet yours. On several sites it is a hint that gets ignored when the queue is short.
How to judge any of them yourself
Press the report button on something and see whether anything happens. On a serious site a person reads it; on the others it is decoration.
Check what the free tier really includes. Several of these are free to start and then put the country filter — or being matched within a reasonable time at all — behind a subscription.
See whether the site works properly in a browser or keeps pushing an app. An app can ask for permissions a web page cannot.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Omegle alternative?
It depends what you want. OmeTV and Chatroulette have the most people online. Emerald Chat has good interest matching. Kismaro is the only one in this comparison with a real age check and a face requirement on video, but it is newer and has fewer people.
Is Kismaro free?
Yes, and there is no paid tier holding back the country filter or a faster queue.
Why do I have to sign in when other sites do not?
Because an age gate you can skip is not an age gate. Signing in anonymously takes a few seconds and needs no email address.
Do you have a mobile app?
No. Kismaro runs in a phone browser, which works, but there is no app to install yet.
